The reason Jan Stach built his bridge on his own was the lack of an access road to his farm. The only possible access was through a neighbor's road, who forbade Stach from using it^. Therefore, the farmer built his own 500 m long road and constructed a sandstone bridge over a deep ravine. The construction took 3 years. Jan Stach's extraordinary determination that led to the creation of this structure was widely described and caused the bridge to become a well-known local attraction, often visited by tourists^.

The structure is 13 m high, 20 m long, and 7.5 m wide. The stone walls on both sides of the bridge are built in an arch line, providing the structure with proper stiffness and durability.
